Key insights (AI-powered):
EU approval for a higher power far-field transmitter signals regulators’ growing comfort with wireless RF energy as part of mainstream IoT infrastructure. It effectively legitimizes over-the-air power for large-scale ambient IoT deployments in logistics, cold chain and industrial monitoring, where battery maintenance is a barrier to dense sensorization. Dual-band approval in all member states also simplifies device design and roaming models for use in multiple regions. This move reinforces a broader shift toward treating power as a connected layer alongside connectivity in IoT architectures.
The certification enables the commercialization of Energous’ flagship product Wireless energy transmissionr in the EU and UK markets.
Energous Corporation d/b/a Energous Wireless Power Solutions, a leading provider of over-the-air (OTA) wireless power networks, today announced that its PowerBridge Pro Directional transmitter has received regulatory approval for use throughout the European Union. With this approval, Energous’ EU-certified portfolio now includes both PowerBridge Lite and ProThis allows commercialization in all EU Member States and the UK.
The newly certified PowerBridge Pro delivers 2W wired power with 39.5dBi EIRP, providing businesses with broader coverage and more powerful remote wireless power. With dual-band approval for both the lower and upper bands (865 MHz and 918 MHz), the system can now be used without restrictions in all EU member states.
“The EU certification of our PowerBridge Pro marks an important milestone in Energous’ roadmap for global expansion.” said Mallorie Burak, CEO and CFO of Energous. “By adhering to strict EU regulatory standards, we are able to bring the same dynamics we saw in Fortune 10 deployments in the US to the European market, enabling companies to scale wireless energy infrastructure across their supply chains.”
Obtaining EU approval required a comprehensive assessment process, including conducted and radiated measurements, safety testing, radiation immunity and EMC conformity assessments. After successful technical testing and conformity assessment, the PowerBridge Pro is now CE marked and approved for market access throughout the EU.
With certifications now in effect in the US and Europe, Energous is advancing its mission to introduce wireless power networks worldwide, eliminating the limitations of batteries and cables. Support for higher power, longer range PowerBridge transmitters Ambient IoT deployments that provide continuous, real-time information for critical applications such as supply chain visibility, cold chain assurance, fleet operations and environmental monitoring.
“This approval accelerates the adoption of wireless power as a foundational infrastructure layer for Ambient IoT.” Burak added.
“Our technology offers businesses a sustainable, maintenance-free alternative to batteries while supporting smarter, more connected operations on a global scale.”
