Pompey boss John Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent: “It was the best performance of the season and an important result. I was really impressed with the first half. The second half was a different performance but it was really professional.

“From the first minute we had them firmly under control and won the physical duels.

“The energy and the quality were there. And putting those two together is something we’ve struggled with this season.

“The most important thing that was missing is getting the ball into the net, getting into the final third and doing something more.

“But today we were tireless when it came to getting into the final third and creating chances.”

Twitter users expressed their reaction after seeing Isaac Price being kept out of the away team’s encounter following West Brom’s 3-0 defeat to Portsmouth…

@heal1979: It’s really sad to watch this clip. What went wrong? Worst in 35 years of supporting each other.

@StephensM77WBA: I would suggest that they don’t do their warm-ups in the corner at BRE next week. You are in the best position for furs

@JDWBA2: Also, where are the leaders/captains in this situation? Why is Dike the only one with a damn brain? #wba

@ItsSamson2: That was an absolutely shameful display. The players don’t care, they have no heart. Ramsay – what the hell did you spend weeks training with that bunch because there was no plan, just hoof and hope? If that’s all you have to offer, then let it go. #wba

@ots_09: so childish in terms of price. He was terrible and can’t handle it

@talkwba: Take us down. We need a factory reset from top to bottom.

@Rondxnn: Ramsay is out tonight. Nestor is out tonight. Completely destroy the club.

@stemciom: @shilensays Time to put on your big boy pants and fire @AndrewMNestor and Ramsey, you absolute fucking clown

@_camwba: Bad luck guys, it might have been different if we had players with a bunch of nonsense. Forward and downward.

@ftbl_mouraa: Players are not suitable to wear the jersey. The manager is unable to move us forward. Owners are not suitable for football. We’re screwed.

@JackRansom4: Shambolic. Hiring Ramsay was a disgrace. No structure or quality. The players are still bad and lack courage, but they also seem scared and lost now. It’s only getting worse

@JonW1995: It was embarrassing enough that we were in the relegation zone by 6 points against Portsmouth, but to be completely thrashed is a whole new level. Why do we never get a new manager to leave?

@_andrewwww: I’ve seen some SHIT over the years, but it’s NEVER been this bad. No fight, no passion, no quality, no idea. The lack of effort alone is unforgivable. Anyone associated with this club should hang their hands in shame. What an absolute disaster of a year. @WBA #wba

@suttonbaggie: You are not suitable to wear the shirt! The bell rings #wba

@Rees_wba: At this point it’s hard to see if the owners have any idea what to do? Just because they stepped in and “saved” us, a term that is used very loosely. What else have they done apart from selling our best players and sending us into a relegation battle? #WBA

@WBAoscar: We don’t play at youth level, we don’t put our most creative players in dangerous areas and we can’t even play a flat back ten. He hasn’t made a difference in four terrible games. Why will it change? #wba
