Leicester issues a statement as fan groups condemn hateful chants towards the club’s hierarchy during their win at Norwich on Saturday.
Supporter groups, including Foxes Trust and the Fan Advisory Board, strongly condemned the offensive, divisive and discriminatory language and urged fans to express their passion respectfully.
The club welcomed the fans’ stance, reiterated its support for its staff and called for unity. He explained that such behavior has no place in football or in society.
Foxes Trust had previously criticized the club’s silence in the face of on-field struggles, financial uncertainty and fan dissatisfaction and called for open communication and leadership.

On November 6, Foxes Trust wrote: “After two relegations in three years, our club is currently in the bottom half of the championship and has to reckon with possible points deductions and ongoing financial uncertainty.
“Much of the squad continues to lack commitment, fight and quality under a new coaching regime, while decisions such as shirt sponsorship are causing controversy and resentment.
“Within the ever-shrinking crowd there is a mix of apathy, anger, division and toxicity.
“Despite this decline and despite the trust survey results, the club has maintained its long radio silence.
“We therefore once again call on the club to break this silence and communicate openly, honestly and directly with Leicester City fans as quickly as possible.”
“Now is the time for management to show leadership and put a plan in place for the future. Only then can cohesion return – both in the stands and throughout the club.”
Then a statement from the LCFC fan groups and fan representatives in the fan advisory board.
It read: “Leicester has a proud tradition of being an inclusive and respectful community. We support our team and express our views openly because we care deeply about the club and its future success.”
“However, some of the chants heard in Saturday’s away game against Norwich crossed the line. We strongly condemn any language that causes harm to individuals. We also reject divisive, racist or hateful chants of any kind.”
“We stand together as supporters and are united in the belief that ‘home’ for everyone in the Leicester City community is the King Power Stadium – regardless of race, creed or background.”
“Like any community, we are strongest when we stick together in good times and bad. We call on all Leicester City fans to end hateful chants and express our views with passion, but always with respect. Thank you.”

CLUB STATEMENT
We welcome the statement made today by our fan groups and fan council representatives.
Some of the chants heard from some of our away support in Norwich on Saturday crossed a serious line. Insults or expressions that harm individuals or discriminate against anyone have no place in our club, in football or in our society.
We also want to make clear our support for our employees and managers. Personal abuse of any kind is unacceptable. The people who represent Leicester City work with dedication and integrity every day, with the best interests of the club at their heart. No one should be exposed to targeted or hateful language while doing their job.
We are proud of our supporters for expressing this. It is a shared responsibility of the entire Leicester City family to ensure our game remains free of this type of behavior and language.
It has always been clear how much passion and love our fans have for their club. That’s what makes Leicester City special. But we ask all fans to consider how that passion is expressed and to ensure that it never crosses a line that undermines the values that can bring us together.
Twitter users expressed their reaction after Leicester issued a statement condemning fan groups’ hateful chants towards the club’s hierarchy…
@Watto_T: Most fans agree that the chants were wrong and we condemn them. Do you know what else is wrong? – No communication – Allowing a club to be driven into the gutter with no one taking responsibility while we still await the results of the internal review of the 22/23 season. Top out
@TAIEpodcast: “The people who represent Leicester City work with dedication and integrity every day, with the best interests of the club at their heart.” #KingPowerOUT #AiyawattOUT
@ragsyrai: The death threats are completely inappropriate. The language and the brutality of the chants stop here. But the message, with all due respect, is still the same. #AiyawattOut #RudkinOut #KingPowerOut
@StevenScrase: You have the audacity to “cry wolf” when faced with rejection from fans (right or wrong), while in hindsight you would dismiss them as meaningless. Fans have been wanting answers about their club’s ‘managed’ decline for a number of years and you have ignored them at every turn. LCFC are a joke – hypocrites. Bookmark it and trust me because you’ll have Sheffield Wednesday MK2 within two years.
@HaIfTurn: If you only communicate through these chants then you create the space for them to carry on because it’s the only time we hear from the club
@lcfcgeorgee: I’m not entirely sure what was sung, but in a polite way, Rudkin out
@chloe_d1306: Most of us agree that the chants were completely unacceptable. Question to Staff/Leadership: Did you operate with “integrity” on the day the BC Game contract was signed?
@JamieB8806: “We would also like to make clear our support for our employees and managers.” Says the club staff in the statement signed by the club management….
@johnclem79: Quick response from the club!! If only they could share so quickly what the plan is for the future! As for “leadership” that’s a long shot, there is no leadership, Top is leading this club into the abyss! #Rudkinout #Kingpowerout
@finnjmoore: Make sure he doesn’t have to suffer anymore by removing him from the club
@c_r_5:
Number of disrespectful chants: 1
Number of responses from #LCFC: 1
Number of valid, respectful chants and other communications about gross mismanagement, lack of accountability, finances and on-field results over the last 3.5 years: Thousands of thousands
Number of replies from @LCFC: 0
@Hathernfox65: The worst run club in the country right now and this is the only time they communicate! I’ve been watching Leicester for over 50 years (I’ve even lost money on the club’s shares) and this is the most distance from the club I’ve ever felt! I am happy to offer my services as a director
@dannyb_31: Chants are wrong and overstepping the mark but as always… No recognition, accountability or recognition for how we went from an established PL club to mid table championship (thereby breaking the FFP). Imagine my shock
@SA_1884: “Leadership” and “while doing their job” are a bit of a stretch, aren’t they? Fire him
@c_r_5: Interesting that you comment on the fans opinion on the forum if a chant was wrong. But months and months (years?) of legitimate criticism go by without comment
@MarcusT51203208: I don’t care about Rudkin, I don’t care, I’m just interested in LCFCCCCCC
@newty1987: Wow, that just proves that you can communicate whenever you want. I agree that this particular saying goes overboard, but it would be nice to see a similarly quick response when it comes to boardroom accountability. Stop hiding! Is there a chance to remind ourselves who the leadership is? We haven’t seen or heard from her in 10 years
@LicoriceTorpedo: Respect works both ways. Funny that this has prompted a backlash (quite rightly so), but when fans have legitimate concerns they are dismissed. Fans are not customers. We are much more than that. Maybe you should communicate openly with us. This situation wouldn’t have been so bad
@craiglcfc: The singing was unacceptable. But there is no “leadership.” The owner, who was said to want to take more control after Whelan’s departure, has apparently done anything but. Unacceptable chants from a significant minority of idiots change nothing.
@1884XM: That makes a statement, but two relegations in three years and half a decade of incompetent club management bring silence?
