In an eight-goal thriller, Wrexham recovered from a 3-1 deficit to beat Sheffield United 5-3 in the Championship on Friday night.
Patrick Bamford gave the Blades the lead after just 7 minutes with a volley from a cross from Seriki, before Wrexham equalized after 9 minutes from a pass from Tyler Bindon.
After a quarter of an hour it was 2-1 for Sheffield United when Bamford parried away a low cross from Seriki.
But 10 minutes later Callum O’Hare rose above Matty James and goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo to equalize again.
The goals kept coming, Kieffer Moore beating his former club with a powerful header from a corner to halve the deficit.
Shortly after half-time Wrexham equalized, George Thomason sent a lovely cross for Ryan Longman and headed into the goal.
With 15 minutes to play the seventh goal of the game came and this time it was Wrexham who took the lead with Moore putting the ball well ahead of Michael Cooper.
Then George Thomason went down and a penalty was awarded, giving Wrexham a 5-3 lead. Tyler Bindon went down and referee Andrew Kitchen pointed to the spot while Bindon received a yellow card. Josh Windass sent Michael Cooper the wrong way.
Then, in the 93rd minute, a ball was tipped in to Tyrese Campbell, who saw his shot bounce off the underside of the crossbar.
Wrexham’s Phil Parkinson, according to Sky Sports:
“It was a strange game! Even at half-time I felt we had played reasonably well and scored the goals. We could have done better but it was good action from Bamford on two of the goals we scored.”
“I always had the feeling that we would have chances. We got back into the game well and then we just had to defend better in the penalty area, which we did in the second half. The moments came our way and it’s a great win for us.”
“Our front three were great and worked hard for the team. I’m really pleased that Kieffer scored his two goals and Josh’s first finish was obviously great. Broady looked like he could do something for us all night.”
“And then there was George Thomason, playing full-back for the first time, and he looked excellent for us.”
Sheffield United’s Chris Wilder:
“You can’t concede five goals at any level of football and then expect a result. It was all self-inflicted and from our point of view the goals are really bad.”
“We just couldn’t handle the top three, and Kieffer does what he does. We didn’t bother.”
“We came away from home and didn’t get what we wanted. I’m not going to make excuses. We’re going to focus on ourselves, restart, dust ourselves off and get going again. We just have to defend a lot better.”
“We never looked at their first three players and especially we never looked at Kieffer”
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder let a 3-1 lead slip away to lose 5-3 at Wrexham on Boxing Day.

Here’s how fans reacted after Wrexham overcame a 3-1 deficit to beat Sheffield United 5-3 in an eight-goal thriller…
@racecourserambl: Kudos to Parky tonight, firstly for being brave with the first 3 and secondly for hanging on when 3-1 down, even though he must have been tempted to fall back.
@sleavesley: Well done George Thomason – what a play out of position. I left everything out there. Glad Sky got it right as player of the game impressive team performance
@PeersRyan: Brilliant game for everyone who had a win above all.
@chxco156: Parky Ball pulled me back in
@WrexhamFan3: That felt good, Reds! An enormous achievement by the boys to further improve the deficit from 1:3. #askwxm #WxmAFC
@tonywilding88: It’s very rare that we lose 2 times in a row and when I played a CM at LWB I was worried, but playing Windass AND Broadhead together behind Moore is what we were all clamoring for and it paid off. I think the penny has hopefully dropped on Parkinson’s there, excellent. The first is a nice goal from Bamford, but the other two are bad from us. Arthur cost us another goal tonight and he really needs to get his focus back. Going forward I thought we looked so good tonight, much better, that’s a proper Swansea reaction
@rolltitans5: The biggest positive of this entire season is also the biggest frustration. This team has awarded enough points to be in the top 3 of the league and fight for automatic promotion. However, this success is phenomenal for our first year in the league. #WxmAFC
Simply a brilliant football game in which both teams contributed their part. On Tuesday the Reds showed great resilience, commitment and belief that they could recover from a 3-1 defeat and win by a comfortable margin in the end. #WxmAFC #Coyr pic.twitter.com/8k8K3ISnsj
