Leading LPWAN technology achieves 25% CAGR across all deployments

The LoRa Alliance®, the global association of companies supporting the open LoRaWAN® standard for low-power wide-area networks (LPWANs) in the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced that its members have exceeded expectations 125 million global deployments of LoRaWAN endpoints.

This represents a significant milestone and underlines the rapid and sustainable adoption of the leading LPWAN standard. With a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25% across the ecosystem, LoRaWAN has demonstrated its maturity and scalability as it enters this exponential growth phase. Additionally, the alliance found that when considering the largest networks with several million devices, some vendors are achieving CAGRs of up to 50%.

“125 million devices deployed is a huge milestone and the LoRa Alliance is playing a key role in accelerating IoT adoption.” said Alper Yegin, CEO of the LoRa Alliance. “It tells us several things. First, the LoRaWAN standard is mature. Second, as the technology meets mature implementation, productization, marketing and sales activities, the growth rate exceeds 25% CAGR – and will continue to rise. Third, LoRaWAN enables massive IoT and plays a key role in bringing AI to the physical world.”

IoT has been around for more than four decades, but its growth has skyrocketed recently thanks to LoRaWAN driving massive IoT adoption. Leading LoRaWAN deployments include ZENNER with 10 million devices, Actility with 4.6 million, The Things Industries with 3.8 million devices, Birdz with 3.6 million meters, and Netmore with 3.4 million devices. Smart metering, smart buildings and smart cities remain the key vertical markets driving large-scale deployment.

Matt Hatton, founding partner of Transforma Insights, said:

“Reaching the 125 million device milestone and continued strong growth reflect LoRaWAN’s great capabilities in addressing a variety of IoT use cases and its dynamic ecosystem. It remains one of the key technologies driving the growth of IoT.”

Another sign that LoRaWAN is entering the mainstream is the presence of the LoRa Alliance at CES 2026, the world’s largest consumer technology trade show, taking place from January 6th to 9th in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. As part of the LoRaWAN in Action World TourThe alliance will showcase LoRaWAN technology and its wide range of applications at the event, giving visitors the opportunity to experience how it is shaping the future of IoT.

The alliance’s CES activities include live demos and a special mainstage track entitled “Massive IoT Unfolding: LoRaWAN in Action” on Wednesday, January 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the LVCC North Hall, N257. The program includes real-world case studies, deployment results, and a look toward the future as LoRaWAN continues to grow.

LoRa Alliance CES 2026 program

  • 9:00 am LoRaWAN in action! Making IoT a reality. Presented by: Alper Yegin, LoRa Alliance; Wienke Giezeman, The Things Industries; and Henry Huang, Brownan Communications.
  • 10:00 a.m Real ROI – How Industry Leaders Are Monetizing LoRaWAN Today. Moderation: Yannick Delibie, Kerlink; Betty Fan, Seeed Studio; Michele Lozada, Semtech; and Rishabh Chauhan, The Things Industries.
  • 11:00 a.m LoRaWAN at Scale: Global Innovation and the Future of IoT Connectivity. Speakers: Duane Wald, MultiTech; Rob Zagarella, NNNCo; Alper Yegin, LoRa Alliance; and Rich Sanders, ZENNER.

Find LoRaWAN solutions and partners at the LoRa Alliance Pavilion

Located in the North Hall of the LVCC, Booth 1034, the LoRa Alliance Pavilion features live demonstrations of LoRaWAN deployments already in use in smart buildings, cities, supply chains and utilities worldwide. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet alliance leaders and innovators, learn how LoRaWAN technology impacts daily life, and discover deployable IoT solutions, including smart consumer devices. Participating companies include:

  • Brownan Communications will introduce LoRaWAN solutions that promote security and efficiency in industrial environments. The B-SAFE zone-level tracking system enables companies to quickly locate assets – be they people or machines – in large industrial environments. These solutions are critical in emergencies or when misplaced equipment can cause significant delays in the manufacturing process.
  • Cicicom has launched the first smart parking solution on the Greek island of Paros, allowing locals and tourists alike to find free parking spaces and track their payments owed. This solution includes LoRaWAN certified products.
  • Kerlink will introduce its outdoor gateways designed for the US market and its Management Cockpit SaaS platform, which enables administrators to check the health of a network and remotely diagnose, correct, update and restore services.
  • MClimate will demonstrate its Vicki smart thermostat and environmental sensors, which have been instrumental in regulating temperature and energy consumption in hospitals, student accommodation, apartments and even huge retail/office spaces. Thousands of rooms across Europe are now both temperature controlled and energy efficient.
  • MultiTech will showcase its advanced LoRaWAN IoT network and products that a global manufacturer recently deployed to maximize process efficiency.
  • NNN Co will demonstrate PowerPilot, a LoRaWAN-based system that provides utilities with real-time visibility and control over distributed energy resources at the grid edge. The M11 monitors the device and tracks voltage, load and current flow at connection points, while the S11 enables load management for demand response and grid stability.
  • RAKwireless will introduce a range of LoRaWAN products – from gateways to operating systems to modules – that are easy to adopt and integrate and enable accelerated product development. Recent implementations include residential water monitoring systems that help consumers manage water usage and waste more effectively.
  • Seed technologya provider of LoRaWAN hardware and technical support, will demonstrate how digital transformation is enabling traditional facilities to operate more efficiently and sustainably.
  • SemtechThe predictive maintenance demonstration shows how edge AI and LoRaWAN can monitor vibration signatures to determine the health of industrial machinery.
  • SenArch will demonstrate its energy-harvesting LoRaWAN gateway, the ARCH1, designed for use in smart cities and industry. The Gateway enables monitoring of wildfires, floods and extreme weather conditions while providing off-grid connectivity in remote locations – critical for early warning systems where infrastructure is lacking.
  • TECTELICThe team first demonstrates how the eDoctor device enables remote monitoring of critical health metrics in post-surgical patients. Next, TEKTELIC shows how a large utility customer gained a complete overview of warehouses, storage yards and service vehicles, reducing losses and inventory costs and enabling faster response to outages.
  • The things industries (TTI) will present two customer reports on retail security and cold chain monitoring that improve the bottom line of stores and restaurants by protecting merchandise and preventing food waste. Each deployment uses TTI’s LoRaWAN The Things Indoor Gateway Pro (TTIG Pro).
  • LANGUAGEThe LoRaWAN sensors use adaptive AI to transform predictive maintenance of rotating machines such as motors and pumps. At CES, they will use vibration monitoring to demonstrate how their technology learns operating patterns, detects anomalies, and classifies them to prevent costly equipment failures that lead to lost productivity.
  • ZENNER will showcase its smart water, gas and heat metering solutions and meter connectivity products, which include satellite connectivity for extremely remote locations.
